BUILD COMMUNITY NEWS MAGAZINE

WORD FROM THE PUBLISHER – Dr. Nathaniel Olade

What is in a Community?

A community has something unique about it. No matter how you define it, a community is made of people who happen to have something in common. It may be values, demographic disposition, academic and ideological orientation, residential affinity or religious affiliation.

A community can then be described as a group of people who are resident in the same geographical area and share common goals and challenges. It can also relate to a group of people of like passion and profession.

Here on this platform, our main focus will be on infrastructure in a broad sense. Civilization started with the goal of building communities, either rural, urban or suburban. Citizens with like minds gather in fellowship and minds of amity to develop their environment through hard work, self-help and independent efforts. In some cases, development of a community starts as a government initiative but things have changed in the last decade due to global economic recession, weird inflationary trends and bad leadership.

Today, the various governments in place might not be capable enough or buoyant enough to render substantial support for communities at large. So, what then happens? The onus falls on residents and concerned stakeholders to start putting things together in collectively working concertedly on infrastructural development.
